    Holy Joker, Batman!

I love when movies & such do little interactive user website stuff. Although, I hate when I miss them. It is now 100% confirmed that The Joker will be in the new Batman movie and he will be played by Heath Ledger. In a promotional effort there were two websites that were made. The first one I Believe in Harvey Dent is a campaign for Harvey Dent, who will be in the new Batman feature, The Dark Knight. Another website, I Believe in Harvey Dent Too, was released which if you caught it during initial launch was slowly revealing an image of Heath Ledger as The Joker.

Admittedly I do not reach much in the way of DC Comics, and the most that I know about Batman comes from Batman: The Animated Series. On the surface, however, I always noticed how goofy and over the top Batman’s Villains were, and how he played the straight man in this whole Drama that was Gotham. I thought that contrast was always very interesting, and liked his more outlandish villains more than anything else. The Joker has always seemed a caricature of himself, but I suppose that was to try to lighten the violent sociopath nature of the character. He always seemed a little more silly than sinister.

This image looks like a much darker approach to the character, at least visually. But not seeing the green hair does a lot to keep the image seem straight. I’m sure once the bright green locks are thrown on top it will seem a little different. I can only hope that this movie explores the darker side of the Joker, cause I suppose that would be interesting. I wonder how violent they are going to make him. Also, will Harley Quinn be in the movie as Dr. Harleen Quinzel, I think that would be truly awesome.

What excites me the most is that they have re-cast Maggie Gyllenhaal as Rachel Dawes. This is great news, as I thought that Katie Holmes was particularly awful in this role and brought the movie down a bit. That’s pretty ballsy of them to re-cast the same role when the movies have been made so close together, but I am glad they are taking the risk.

All in all, I am pretty excited about this venture.

In other promotional news, I hear they will be releasing 40,000 Silver Surfer U.S. Mint approved quarters. I saw this on the Fantastic Four 2 movie MySpace page. I am still not sure what to think. So far it seems legit, but that’s crazy. I hope to be able to get my hand on two so that I can put them in a little coin collection frame. Man that would be awesome.

So I will ask you, my readers, to help me out. If for some reason you get your hands on a Silver Surfer Quarter, please consider me. Obviously use it for the contest or whatever, but then if you lose, can I please have it :) Also if you have any news on the legitimacy of this, let me know. I’m still slightly skeptical.

P.S. My site was looking horrid in Internet Explorer, which I didn’t realize since I don’t use IE. I know I know, bad web designer! I should have looked. But I think I have fixed it :)

Hello! My name is Jacquelyn, but I go by Quelyn. I have lived in New Jersey my whole life. This is my blog. It is sorely in need of a more regular update schedule, as I am surely in need of some inspiration.
